Latest reports show that national

U.K. house prices rose for a second consecutive month in August as a

strengthening economy helped support demand, according to Lloyds Banking Group

Plc's Halifax division.

A 0.2% monthly increase was recorded in August, following a 0.7% rise in July.

Economists had forecast a 0.5% decline for last month, based on a number of

estimates carried out by a Bloomberg News survey.

Looking at the local market, there still

seems to be great buys out there if you are in the position to pay cash, or

obtain a mortgage, availability for 20% deposit home loans has increased whilst

the number of home loans available for those offering 40% has dropped, a shift

from the trend seen in recent months, which has seen the best rates offered to

those able to pay the largest deposits.

I must admit whilst driving around the town,

I have noticed an increase in SOLD signs, a positive sign that the market is

picking up.

House hunting has been revolutionised with

the advent of the internet, I can now sit in the comfort of my own home and

search the local area for properties and in some cases take an online tour.
