This post is in answer to the one below.

I take your point mickarick. but in this case phone calls etc. are not doing the trick.

We have been bringing these footpaths to the Councils notice for years.

Councillor Peter Smith, Cllr Myra Whiteside & Cllr. Susan Greensmith are well aware of the footpaths in question poor condition, but seem to do nothing about it.

Steve Highway the Council’s Asset Manager is also more than fully aware.

    Below request made FEB 2008

REQUEST TO LOCAL COUNCILLORS TO IMPROVE FOOTPATHS URGENTLY.

We are given to understand that the 20 mph zone is to be extended north of Windermere Road e.g. Gordon St. and Glebe St. etc. We have asked two of the councillors, Myra Whiteside and newly elected Susan Greensmith to have the footpaths improved in the same streets. Footpaths in these streets have never been the same since CABLE TV laid their pipes & cables. They now are very uneven indeed and a sorry sight, due to patches everywhere which are in different types and shades of tarmac. The area would look much better if the surface of this tarmac was brought up to a better standard, similar to the standard due to be laid alongside the Persimmon Homes site.

Below request repeated in JAN 2009

REQUEST TO T0 IMPROVE FOOTPATHS IN GLEBE & GORDON ST., AREA.

This request was printed in our Spring 2008 edition of ‘The Leyther’

Below in blue is part of an Email from Steve Winstanley Highway Asset Manager. Date 27th October 2008

I am pleased to inform you that the footway site surveys are nearing completion and analysis of all the survey data will commence shortly.

20 mph zone is to be extended to Glebe St, Gordon St etc.
It’s about time that this private estate got a fairer and better deal from the Council.

Local Residents deserve & look forward on this occasion to get a favourable response.

The council needs to clear up all the fast food junk littering the footpaths and surrounding areas including our front gardens. The fast food and corner shops should pay for teams of people to clean up their waste packaging.
