Police are appealing for witnesses after two men died in a collision in Wigan

At
6.20pm on Sunday 13 February 2011, police were called to a collision on
Warrington Road, Goose Green, Wigan, following reports of a collision near to
the junction with Clapgate Lane.
Officers
attended and discovered a red Ford Escort had collided with two pedestrians,
two men aged 63 and 64.
Both
men were taken to hospital with serious injuries and later died.
The
driver of the escort was taken to hospital for treatment to minor injuries and
later arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
The
road was closed for several hours while investigation work took place.
