A man suffered a deep cut
to his eye and a fractured jaw after he was assaulted in Wigan.
It happened outside Madisons
bar on King Street at about 1.30am on 14 November 2009.
Police have now released
CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attack.
The victim, 50, had been
on a night out when he was confronted by the offender, who punched him
in the face after an argument. The force caused the victim to fall to the
floor, leaving him with a swollen right eye and a 5cm cut that broke all
the layers of his skin. He also sustained a fractured jaw.
The offender then ran before
police attended.
He is described as white,
of a medium to heavy build and about 25-years-old. He had short dark hair
and was wearing a black and pink T-shirt and dark jeans.
Police are appealing to anyone
who witnessed the attack, or who knows the man pictured in the CCTV images,
to come forward.
Police Constable Sue Bridges,
of Wigan CID, said: "This attack might be a few months old, but that
does not detract from how serious it was and we will continue to investigate
until we find the man responsible.
"There would have been
a lot of people outside the bar at that time who may have witnessed what
happened and we need to speak to them.
"I would urge anyone
who recognises the man in the CCTV to come forward and not stay silent.
This is the sort of unacceptable town centre violence that could have happened
to anyone of us, and if you do know who this man is then please speak up
as next time it could be your brother or son or friend who is attacked."
Anyone with information is
asked to call Wigan CID on 0161 856 7295 or the independent charity Crimestoppers,
anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
