Soap Stars to Compete in Charity Football Match in aid of SSAFA

They are

more used to performing on stage, but at 1.00pm on 28 November at Leigh Sports

Village, stars from Coronation Street, Hollyoaks, Emmerdale and Dream Team will

be performing on the pitch for the Morson Allstars as part of a charity

football match. The Allstars will be competing against a Tri Services football

team in aid of the armed forces charity SSAFA.

Comedian and

Key 103 radio Presenter Justin Moorhouse, also known for his role as ‘Young

Kenny’ (aka Tiger face) in Phoenix Nights, will provide the entertainment prior

to and during the event, which is sure to provide laughs for the crowd. Half

time activities will include dance groups and a penalty shootout between

players from a local football team. There may also be other exciting activities

on the day including a climbing wall and a raffle, which will include prizes

such as a signed Coronation Street cast photograph and a signed football by the

players).

The event

will enable fans to come a see their favourite stars in action, provide fun and

excitement for the whole family and much needed support for SSAFA. Lauretta

McGowan, Secretary for SSAFA commented, “We are really pleased that Sainsbury’s

and Leigh Sports Village are working in partnership to organise a celebrity

football match in aid of SSAFA. We hope that the game and the celebrities will

help raise the profile of SSAFA in the community as support for our Armed

Forces is crucial at this moment in time.”

Tickets are

on sale now and are available from Leigh Sports Village and Leigh Sainsbury’s

at a cost of £4 for adults, £2 for concessions, and £10 for a family ticket (2

adults, 2 children).
