On the 18th September we held the first Junior Presentation Night to celebrate the successes of our junior members during the 2009 season. The night was well attended by junior players, families and senior players alike who enjoyed a ‘Know your Club’ Quiz, Pie & Pea Supper, Karaoke and Disco along with the Award Ceremony.
Our U11 Squad had an encouraging season, a very young team hopefully learnt lots that they can take into coming seasons. Alex Heaton was the Batsman of the year whilst Wigan & District U11 Representative Sam O’Malley was both the Bowler and Player of the year. A number of positives came out of the U13 section, who improved on the previous seasons results. Sam O’Malley won his third award of the night taking the Bowling prize whilst Ryan King won both Batsman and Player; mentions should also go to Josh Calland (Sportsman of the Year) along with Aaron Booth and Josh Lynch who both performed consistently.
The U15’s unearthed a number of new talents, Adam Prendergast won the Batting prize and was one of a number of youngsters to make their senior debut. Jordan O’Malley won both the Bowling and Player of the year award in a season where he represented the 1st eleven regularly. Richard McLeod won the sportsman award whilst Josh Cheetham, Nathan Johnson and Jordan O’Malley represented Wigan & District U15’s.
Tom Pemberton was the stand out U17 batsman winning the batting prize, John Fearick showed what a good all rounder he is by winning the bowling prize but Jordan O’Malley’s all rounder performance won him the Player of Year whilst the ever popular Nathan Burns was Sportsman of the Year. U17 Chris Bradshaw represented the 1st eleven in 2009, reward for consistent 2nd eleven performances.
The Committee would like to Thank Christine Banks, Lynn Hope, Damian Mckeown and Team Managers for their Help in making the night possible.
