AGAIN WIGAN PLANNERS ARE DELAYING A GOOD DEVELOPMENT FOR LEIGH. i AM REFERING TO THE BARLOW RADIATORS SITE. A CINEMA, RESERAUNTS AND GOOD THINGS FOR LEIGH, PUT ALL THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT BRAINS ON FINDING EXCUSES TO DELAY AND BLOCK THE PROJECT. ITS ONLY LEIGH.
We need our own council....... simple....... I'm not in favour of the developement of Barlows Radiators, we need jobs in Leigh and I'd put that before the new ammenties mentioned...... Do agree though they do take the mick

The development is badly thought out.
Can you imagine what traffic will be like, without serious improvements to the roads? Improvements on a scale that would require compulsory purchase orders and demolition to put through a road capable of taking the traffic, without finally bringing Chapel Street to a standstill.
The Tesco store should go on Parsonage, along with the one they want to put on LSV and the cinema should go on LSV.
This kind of development can't be put in an area which is near gridlocked at peak times and won't cope with an increase.
Does anyone actually know why the planning has been delayed???? Could it not be due to transport networks???
Also does leighpatriot not realise that if Barlows Radiators were to be developed, that it would create jobs for local people.
Yes, I agree that it would be good to have a cinema at the Sports Village, but has anyone seen confirmation that this is not going to happen?
Try supporting new developments for Leigh and the Leigh Community, and make Leigh a better place instead of trying to bring down ideas and plans to sustain the community.
Try a positive approach!!!!

Try a positive approach?
@ junec522010: You obviously either don't drive, or live nowhere near the area concerned.
If we cram anymore developments into Leigh, without demolishing a swathe of properties and putting a new road through, then the gridlocks found on Wigan Road, Chapel Street and Kirkhall Lane will cover all the main roads in Leigh. Even public transport, which the council want us to use, will not be able to move!
As to Tesco; having a Tesco Extra so close to the town centre will finally destroy the remaining non-poundshop businesses, as they will be undercut so far that it will not be possible to continue trading.
This is an outrageously bad idea, but, because the council and government worship big business, we will have this forced on us.
The idea of another supermarket and a cinema seem attractive, but step back and see the bigger picture, instead of thinking short-term and being impressed with shiny stuff!
