The railway arches off Queen St, Leigh have been demolished.

I David Hull fully agree with them coming down along with the under used multi-storey car park next to our Town Hall. Both these areas are to become new ground level car parks. The one near the Town Hall is hopefully going to be tree lined, which should look good. I sincerely hope these improved car parks, especially on the eye will be well used & end up looking far better than they have been for many a year.

Sad to see the railway arches go; I always thought they were a part of Leigh's identity. I don't think it matters though as there won't be a Leigh for much longer.

ReportSo does that mean e can now get rid of the ugly buidling in Lord St which was constructed in blue brick to supposedly complement the arches !! The planners have got a lot to answer for in Leigh
